A Pillsbury team led by New York Mergers & Acquisitions partners Steve Amdur and Bianca Bowen and Tokyo Finance partner Olivia Matsushita advised Japanese chemical manufacturer Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd on its acquisition of FBSciences Holdings, Inc. FBSciences is a leader in the growing biorationals market, and developer of biostimulants and biopesticides for softer crop protection and lower environmental hazard. The deal closed March 1, 2023.

The transaction expands Sumitomo Chemical’s existing biorationals business, builds upon the success of its U.S. subsidiary Valent BioSciences LLC, and showcases Sumitomo Chemical’s leadership in developing innovative solutions to enhance the protection of agricultural crops and plants and the sustainable supply of safe and high-quality food.
