This is an interdisciplinary symposium for scholars and practitioners from legal and business backgrounds, providing a spirited discussion of the challenges they face together. The symposium is jointly organized by the Association of Corporate Counsel and the American University Business Law Review. There will be two 50-minute panel discussions, back to back, followed by a 1-hour lunch.

  • Panel #1 will address ethics and the general counsel, and the importance of setting the “tone at the top”.
  • Panel #2 will address how legal and business professionals can work together in deal-making, focusing on the M&A context to illustrate.
  • During the lunch, we will have a fireside chat between Veta T. Richardson, President & CEO of ACC, and one other guest regarding the changing nature of the legal profession.
