Pillsbury’s global regulatory practices have garnered a string of notable recognitions in recent months, demonstrating both the group’s established standing in connection with government policy and compliance issues and its growing reputation as a go-to firm for such concerns.

The firm’s recent impressive showing in the 2020 Chambers USA guide clearly demonstrates the depth and breadth of its regulatory capabilities. The firm secured nine regulatory practice rankings—a third of the firm’s total recognitions—including Band 1 recognition for its Aviation Regulatory expertise. In addition, 21 Pillsbury regulatory lawyers earned individual accolades from Chambers, with four earning top-tier recognition as one of their fields most highly regarded practitioners: Energy partners David Lewis and Jay Silberg, International Trade partner Chris Wall, and Wine, Beer & Spirits Law partner Carrie Bonnington.

This strong result follows close on the heels of news that Pillsbury was named the Regulatory Law Firm of the Year by Women in Compliance. In addition to winning the top firm award, Pillsbury’s Washington, DC-based Regulatory and Public Practices Section leader Nancy Fischer was a finalist for Compliance Lawyer of the Year while Associate Sahar Hafeez was shortlisted for recognition as the Junior Compliance Lawyer of the Year.

Also in April, China Business Law Journal recently recognized Pillsbury with two 2020 China Business Law Awards. The firm was honored as one of the handful of leading international firm for both Aviation and Energy & Natural Resources law, due in large part to the firm’s excellent regulatory capabilities in support of these sectors. The publication cited Pillsbury’s frequent role as counsel to leading Chinese airlines and other companies on aviation-related matters, and the firm’s long track-record of success guiding energy companies through the regulatory complexities of infrastructure projects, strategic investments and commercial transactions in China.

These three prominent 2020 recognitions follow the firm’s significant acknowledgment in March as one of just five government contract groups to be named a Practice of the Year by Law360. This year’s award marked the fourth time Pillsbury’s exceptional Government Contract group earned the award, having previously taken top honors in 2017, 2016 and 2010.
